Early beginnings in the defence and aerospace industries focused on modernizing real-time flight control software for military aircraft, missile systems and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). More recent projects have concentrated on the problem of software obsolescence in industry, both in enterprise applications and in large software products.

Client: Large Bank – national coverage

Legacy Application: Integrated core software system covering deposits, loans, CRM. 25M lines of COBOL.

History: Prior attempt to introduce new features produced business interruption, externally visible. Diagnosis: Technical Atrophy - Insufficient technical understanding of very large code base, and inadequate test coverage.

Challenge: Plan a multi-phase migration, beginning with Phase I Discovery/Mapping and moving into Phase II Migration Planning and Phase III Modernization.

Current Status: Phase I in-progress, tools and services to support Discovery/Mapping and Phase II Planning.

Defence

Client 1: Northrop Grumman

Legacy Application: Flight Control software, B-2 Spirit strategic bomber

Challenge: Retiring engineering workforce, language qualifications difficult to attract/hire

Current Status: Migrated Jovial to C.
